How to avoid common cupcakes problems (part 2)
It's here! Check out part 2 of our tips and tricks for fixing the most common cupcake baking mistakes to elevate your skills.
The frosting can wait!
When you finally take your cupcakes out of the oven, you should wait at least 40-45 minutes for them to cool completely before adding frosting.
Perfecting your buttercream's consistency
Fix any consistency issues by adding either more powdered sugar or more liquid (milk or water). For example: if your buttercream is too stiff, slowly add about a teaspoon of liquid at a time until you reach the right consistency. If it’s too runny, slowly add a few tablespoons of powdered sugar at a time until you reach the right consistency.
Avoid lumpy cupcake batter
Use room temp ingredients! They'll combine more easily. For example, butter should be soft, but not runny nor easy to whip. Also, sift your dry ingredients!
Mix batter with a mixer
When making cupcakes from scratch, you should always cream butter and sugar together with a hand mixer. And in a separate bowl, whisk together your dry ingredients.
If your cupcakes just aren't good!
Maybe you’ve used a flavoring that's kind of low quality. Where possible, always pick good quality vanilla (Vainilla Molina).
