Got some leftover cake from a birthday, Valentine’s Day or another celebration? No worries, we’ve got you covered with some tips to help keep your cake fresh and tasty for longer!
Room temp & fridge prep
First things first: Make sure your cake is fully cooled down to room temp before storing it. If you're putting it in the fridge, make sure it’s smell-free! You don’t want your cake picking up any unwanted odors from other foods hanging out in there.
Glazed cake
You'll want to cover these with a cake dome or an upside-down container to keep it fresh at room temp for 4-5 days. If you need it to last longer, throw it in the freezer for safe keeping.
Cake without frosting
These are the easiest to store! Without frosting, they’re less likely to dry out. Just wrap it tightly in plastic wrap so it doesn’t absorb any funky smells from the fridge.
Cake with buttercream frosting
To keep these fresh, make sure they’re wrapped up well to protect them from humidity and heat. If you plan on serving the cake later, adding an extra layer of buttercream right before serving!
Cake with fruits
Fruit can release moisture and make your cake soggy, so it’s best to store these in the fridge. Make sure they’re wrapped up tightly in plastic or sealed in an airtight container and try to eat them within 2 days for the best taste.
Now you’ve got the inside scoop on how to make your leftover cake stay fresh, cute and flavorful!
